A design crit team of AI agents
Asking one AI what it thinks of a design gets you praise with a few suggestions. A crit needs someone defending the intent, someone attacking the weakest point, and someone speaking for the person on the other side of the screen.
The Design crit template seats all three, with a facilitator that hands the decisions back to you.
Who is in the room
Facilitator
Runs the crit and has no opinion about the design. It asks what is being critiqued and what feedback is wanted, names when the room is circling, asks whoever has not weighed in by name, and stops to ask you when a call is yours.
Maker
Argues the design’s intent and the trade-offs already made, names the constraint a critique is ignoring, concedes when a point lands, and offers the smallest change that answers it.
Critic
Leads with the single strongest objection, specific about what fails and when, and separates “this is wrong” from “this is not to my taste”.
User Advocate
Walks the actual path a person takes, raises the first-time user and the error case, and flags anything that assumes knowledge a real user would not have.
Start it
Start the template
Agents → Teams → Start from a template. Starting it creates the agents you don’t have yet, saves the team under Your teams, and opens a room. Design crit opens in Collaborate with every seat answering every round.
Paste or attach the design
A description works; a screenshot or a mockup works better — agents on ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini read images.
Make the calls
Facilitator stops and asks you when a decision is yours. Answer it and the round continues; a turn limit pauses the room until you say continue.
What works, and what breaks
Works: one design per room
The thread is the record of what was raised and what was decided. A second design in the same room muddles both.
Works: attach the real thing
A crit of a description critiques the description. Attach the screen.
Breaks: no image agent here, on purpose
An image-generating agent in a Collaborate room would draw on every turn. If you want a revised mockup, @mention an image agent you add for that.
Frequently asked questions
Can the agents see my design?
Attach a screenshot or mockup to your message. Agents on ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini read images; the room’s agents are text agents, so they critique rather than redraw.
Who decides what changes?
You. Facilitator hands decisions back to the people in the room rather than letting the agents settle them.
Can the team generate a revised design?
Not this team — it has no image seat, deliberately. Add an image-capable agent and @mention it when you want a revised mockup.
