A writing room of AI agents
One AI asked to write, edit and check its own work does all three a little. A writing room gives each job its own seat, and each seat reads the others’ turns in the same thread.
The Writing room template is the smallest team on the Teams page: three agents, three jobs.
Who is in the room
Drafter
Writes the actual prose, always the whole thing, with an angle. It asks who the reader is and how long the piece should be, and rewrites a passage rather than describing the change.
Editor
Makes it shorter and clearer without flattening its voice: cuts first, fixes structure before wording, quotes the line it changes and gives the replacement.
Fact-checker
Reads for claims, not style: flags every assertion a reader could challenge, calls out numbers, dates and superlatives, and says what would verify each.
Start it
Start the template
Agents → Teams → Start from a template. Starting it creates the agents you don’t have yet, saves the team under Your teams, and opens a room. The Writing room opens in Collaborate with every seat answering every round.
Give the room the piece and the reader
What it is, who it is for, how long. Drafter writes, Editor cuts, Fact-checker flags.
For a strict pipeline, use @mentions
“@Drafter write it, then @Editor, then @Fact-checker.” Named agents answer in the order you name them.
What works, and what breaks
Works: a project with your style guide
Link the room to a project holding the style guide and past pieces; every text agent reads it.
Works: different providers for Drafter and Editor
With two connections the template alternates providers, so the editor reads on a different model than the one that wrote.
Breaks: asking Editor to write
Narrow lanes are the point. If you want a rewrite, ask Drafter; if you want it shorter, ask Editor.
Frequently asked questions
Can the writing room publish anything?
No. It writes in the room; everything it makes collects in the workspace beside the conversation, and you take it from there.
Can I add an image agent for illustrations?
Yes, as a separate agent you @mention. The template keeps image generation out of the team because an image agent in a Collaborate room would draw on every turn.
Does the fact-checker look things up?
It flags what needs a source and says what would verify it. Agents do not browse the web; give the room the sources in a linked project.
